Aware that in many places today the faith is not being passed on, [Pope] Francis raised the question, “What if the chain of transmission of memories is interrupted?” His answer: “God knows how difficult it is, he knows how weak our memory is, and he has done something remarkable: He left us a memorial. He did not just leave us words, for it is easy to forget what we hear. He did not just leave us the Scriptures, for it is easy to forget what we read. He did not just leave us signs, for we can forget even what we see. He gave us food, for it is not easy to forget something we have actually tasted.”
A Message from your 2021 Festival Committee
This is our Second Corpus Christi Festival. While we were hopeful that we would be able to launch some in-person events this year, we are grateful that we are all old hands at this virtual thing because it has allowed us to make this second locked down Corpus Christi Festival bigger. bolder and better than last year’s! We can only imagine what amazing things we’ll be able to do next year, with a hybrid of in person and virtual offerings that will reach all the corners of our vast parish.
Our parish is people. Last year we prayed as one. We sang as one. We played as one. We praised as one. And this year, we want to CONNECT the people of our church family to one another. The great thing is we don’t need buildings to connect! We don’t even need to gather in one place! What we need is spirit! Your spirit, my spirit and of course, the Holy Spirit.
Events, Activities & Inspiration
Movie Watch Parties
Missing friends? We’re going to hold a watch party. It will be open to everyone who wants to join us, so go ahead and invite all your friends. We’ll give you details on the app we’re using and movies and dates in the Festival Guide. Yay!! Movies!!
Selfie Day
We want to see you in your Feast Day Clothes. It’s tradition to wear white on Corpus Christi day and for First Communicants to wear their Communion Clothes. So get out your selfie stick, and follow the instructions in the Festival Guide on so we can add your selfie to the Festival Photo Gallery. Can’t wait to “see” you!
Music
There has been a lot of music written for Corpus Christi and of course for the Eucharistic. Settle in and listen to some sacred music selected especially for this Eucharistic feast. A virtual performance prepared by some of our dedicated Corpus Christi music ministers.
Corpus Christi Sunday Mass
Livestream on the Solemnity of the Most Precious Body and Blood of Christ will begin at 9:30 am on Corpus Christi Sunday with a video presentation to help us prepare for this very special Mass.
Hold Your Own Corpus Christi Procession
There won’t be a procession this year at church, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hold one for own domestic church. Check out the Festival Guide for some ideas on holding a procession with your family. Send us a photo or a video for the Festival Gallery.
Novena

Join us in prayer leading up to Corpus Christi as we pray for the intention of our Parish Identity.
Rosary
We will pray the Rosary together on Facebook on June 4.
Flowers, Flowers, Flowers
Live in Kings? Then you can drop off flowers from your garden in the parking lot at Corpus Christi Kentville – St. Joseph on the Saturday afternoon before Corpus Christi Sunday between 3 pm and 5 pm.
Don’t live in Kings but still want to contribute something? Send a donation to the parish via e-transfer with Corpus Christi in the comment box and the wonderful team at St. Joseph will use your donation to glorify the Lord.
Parish Trivia Night
Select your favourite craft brew – may we suggest some Wayfarers Ale or perhaps something from Church Brewing to complement our Catholic themed trivia night. We’ll have something for everyone, so be sure to invite your friends. Let’s have some fun in the Zoom Rooms. It’s not just for meetings anymore.
Let’s Bake Together
Live on YouTube. We’re going to bake cookies together. You will find a list of ingredients and tools you’ll need in the Festival Guide and tune in with us and we’ll bake together.
Corpus Christi Home Altar
Whether we can gather as one or not, a home altar can be an important piece of your domestic church. Deck out your home altar for Corpus Christi or create one if you’ve never had one before. Ideas are in the Festival Guide.
Coffee Morning
Let’s get social. We don’t need a church hall to gather. We’ll see you in the Zoom Room. LInks will be posted and we’ll look forward to seeing each without masks.
Breaking Bread
Jesus is the bread of life. Bread is such an important part of our tradition. Gather together and bake some bread. Mark it with a cross. Don’t forget to send us a picture.
Make a Monstrance Craft
We won’t be able to join a live procession at Church with the True Presence, but we can create a memorable domestic scene that will help us prepare for the day we can hold a procession!
Adoration
Fr. Keith leads us in Adoration every day, but on Corpus Christi Day, we hope that everyone will tune in from home. Details to follow.

Chalk Sidewalk Art
We can’t get into our churches to sit in contemplation of the sacred art contained in those buildings. So we’re taking our sacred art to the street. Grab your chalk and chalk some Corpus Christi Art in front of your house or in your driveway. Snap a picture and send it in. We’d love to see a flat lay of your artwork and your artists for our Photo Gallery. Decorating the streets for Corpus Christi goes back hundreds of years. Let’s keep it going forward!!

As a newly formed Parish in 2020 and faced with the unprecedented challenges of a pandemic, we came together in our Inaugural Corpus Christi Festival. We Prayed as One. We Sang as One. We Played as One. We Praised as One. We gathered virtually and came together as a Parish, separate, apart, and united at the same time.
