Confirmation

Confirmation Prep

The Sacrament of Confirmation is the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost. It increases and deepens our baptismal grace.

Some say Confirmation means accepting responsibility for your faith, that you are taking on a new role an adult member of the Church. Confirmation is a gift to us from God. Just as the apostles were confirmed on Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4) and received the gifts of the Holy Spirit so too do we receive these gifts during the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The Sacrament of Confirmation gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ: we now must go out and practice our faith, using these gifts.

Confirmation Preparation

Our youth prepare for Confirmation together with dedicated leaders who help them grow and mature in their faith over the course of a year long program.  They gather weekly with their leaders for formation, they prepare at home with their family and they live their faith in their community.   Their prepartions include worship, prayer, service, catechesis, retreat and social components.  This holistic approach helps the youth who are preparing to reach a point in their discernment where they know they are ready to receive the Sacrament and can articulate why they wish to take their place in full communion with their faith community.

We welcome these young people annually at a Confirmation Mass followed by a celebration with their church community.
