Liturgical Ministries

God does not call the equipped but equips the called.
- Hebrews 13:21

Catholic lay persons who are willing to make the commitment to serve in these important offices of the church are always welcome to come forward if they are interested in taking on a role as a Lector or Eucharistic Minister. Each of our churches also have Sacristans who are responsible for the care and preparation of the sanctuary before and after Mass.

By prayerful responding to God’s love and call, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and Sacristans are called to be visible signs of faith, hope and love to all parishioners.

If you feel called to assist in these ministries, please contact the Parish Office nearest you. We hold annual trainings for our ministries and each year we install our ministers at a Mass where a special blessing is offered for them as they carry out their office.

Lectors

Reading at Mass

“Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ” Romans 10:17

Lectors are members of our Liturgical Ministries and are those who love Sacred Scripture and feel called to proclaim the Word of God. Lectors are called to bring all that they are into the presence of God and to appreciate the effect of their proclamation of this living text. If you feel this call to liturgical ministry joining a Bible Study group is a good place to begin. There is training and support for Lectors offered throughout the year beginning with an information session each Fall.

If you wish to learn more about becoming a Lector at one of our churches, please contact the Parish Office.

Sacristan
Our Sacristans ensure that all is prepared for Mass.

Sacristans set up the altar and prepare the sacramental and lectionary for all masses. They maintain the holy water font and various candles in the sanctuary. They are also responsible for the maintenance of altar cloths and the celebrants’ linens and arrange for their cleaning and repair.

It is special calling to care for the linens, vestments and vessels used at Mass and to prepare the church for the celebration of the Eucharist.
If you are interested in assisting a sacristan in the carrying out of this ministry, please contact the parish office.
