Charities

Make a Donation

Corpus Christi’s parishioners and churches support many different charities. Each of our churches has parishioners who are active in outreach and charity work. If you are interested in assisting with the charitable programs that your community church administers, you can contact your Community Liaison and he or she will help connect you.

In all this I have given you an example that by such work we must support the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, for he himself said ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
- Acts 20:35

St. Vincent de Paul

Several of our churches support the work of The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, a lay Catholic organization whose mission is: To live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice and joy. The Mission of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul implies that as Vincentians, we see Christ in anyone who suffers, come together as a family, have personal contact with the poor and help in all possible ways. https://www.ssvp.ca/

Food Banks

Our parish supports a number of local food banks. Some of our churches do a monthly collection of cash donations, others collect food for the food bank. If you wish to make a contribution, please contact your church community’s liaison and he or she will give you more information on how to contribute.

Christian Concern

In Kentville, Christian Concern helps look after the needs of those less fortunate in our community. They hold an annual fundraiser (maybe you purchased something from their Online Auction in July) to support their work. More information on how to get involved can be obtained by contacting the Kentville Community Liaison at kentville@corpuschristins.ca.

Benevolent Fund

In Windsor, local parishioners support the local benevolent fund that provides for the less fortunate in their community. If you wish to make a donation, you can put your donation in an envelope marked benevolent fund and drop it in the regular Sunday collection. If you use online giving, you can put a note in the online form to direct your donation to the benevolent fund. If you’re interested in helping out with this charitable effort, contact the Windsor Community Liaison for more information.

Development and Peace

Development and Peace is the official international development organization of the Catholic Church in Canada. Development and Peace is a membership led organization supported by parish collections, individual donations and government grants. With hundreds of youth and student groups across the country and a network of elected Youth Representatives, Development and Peace presents a dynamic way for youth to live out their faith. https://www.devp.org/en/get-involved

Share Lent

Inspired by our Christian faith, Share Lent provides a special occasion to contribute to the work of justice and creation of the God of Life we believe in. The Share Lent campaign is a call to action in a spirit of commitment and generosity. It is a fundraiser for Development and that goes back to the year the Organization was founded. The Share Lent campaign starts on Ash Wednesday. On the fifth Sunday of Lent, a collection takes place in all of the parishes across Canada to support the work of Development and Peace.

Your weekly offering is used to support the ongoing expenses of the Parish and our church communities. It covers everything from employee salaries to building maintenance to delivering faith formation programs and more. During this difficult time of Covid-19 additional expenses have arisen related to equipment for livestreaming, cost of internet connections and more. All the regular expenses have also continued. Please visit our Donate page to make a contribution to your Parish.

Equip the Saints Mission Collection

This is the annual Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth collection for its continuing costs and expenses to support its ongoing works.
